Chinese New Year is getting close...

Guess, where is it?

First visit to the new Central Star Ferry Pier

The New

The new one has already been in use for months and nearly a year. But this was the first time I visited it, as it is now "far away" from its original position, and sitting next to the outlying island ferry piers. Good news is it takes even shorter time to travel between Tsim Sha Tsui Pier and Central Pier and the bad news is, Victoria Harbour is getting narrower. Even worse, this new Central Pier only makes me feel really like in the Eastern Hollywood, bringing me back to 1920s, or in the film shooting areas of Shaw's brother (邵氏片場). Faked and vague.

The Old

Thanks to people in HK, they kept the old image of Star Ferry Cental Pier. And now, it's only in our memory...

1315 Playground @ Fotan

We 1315 Playground have the largest number of participating artists for our own studio in this year. This is a not-so-easy-to-take photograph of all of us, in front to the works of Marc (left), Sisi (Middle) and Sam (Right), just finished a happy afternoon while meeting visitors to the studio on the first open house weekend in 2008.

Old friends met again.

Fotanian 2008

Starting from 2003, artists working in Fotan studios had a joint open house activity every year. From a visitor to a participant, I love the loose but creative atmosphere of the area.
In the last few weeks, folks were crazily busy preparing for the exhibitions. I had my work framed on stretcher this afternoon. It was the first time I used the electric saw, built a stretcher from scrap wood, and finished the framing in an afternoon. Things happened so naturally. Partners of studio kept chatting and exchanging recent news about each other. I simply enjoyed meeting people around, like staff of the sponsoring body, and the staff of the design house I visited few nights before. By the moment I left the studio for home before midnight, I still found familiar faces heading to their studios on my way home. All people are of sparkling eyes and eager for the Fotanian 2008. Though there were disputes in the preparation works of this Fotanian 2008, who cares? Most of us are more concerned for a good show and lots of responses from viewers of our works! Will you join this show?

A cosy loft-like design house

I can hardly tell you how warm and comfortable when I firstly visited this place last night.

My friend started this office last year in an old flat in Central. Run by two hardworking girls and a team of crazily devoted guys, this company is now working on projects not only from Hong Kong, but Macau, Europe and China.

I am really glad to see the progress and achievements of these innovative girls. Add oil! Have your business keep expanding!
Visit their webpages, see if their design services fit some of your needs.
